Azizy, baby.

There is nothing I love more than a man who can make me laugh. A LOT. Up until recently, there were only 2 comedians who could make me do that--Dane Cook and Mitch Hedberg. Now, though, there's a third man in the mix...

Aziz Ansari.

Don't know who he is? FALSE. If you ever watched MTV's Human Giant, you saw him there. If you ever watched NBC's Parks and Recreation, you saw him there.And he's been in other miscellaneous things, but this isn't IMDB, so I won't list them all here.

There are a few reasons why I love Aziz Ansari (besides him being hilarious):
1. He's a snappy dresser. Cardigans, suits, collared shirts...all staples in his wardrobe (in recent years anyways). He dresses like a grown man, and I love it.
2. He's from South Carolina...born and raised in Columbia. Even though I am from Charleston, I currently live in Columbia, and Columbia already has a place in my heart.
3. He went to the Governor's School for Math and Science. That school is beastly hard to get into.
4. He has lived in New York AND LA. Baller? Yes.
5. He hangs out with Kanye West. Yes, Kanye West was a jerk to my beloved Taylor Swift, but Kanye West also rolls like a big shot.
6. He thinks like I do. Which is way too hard to explain at 5:30 in the morning.
7. He's bearded.

The Lady Curse.

No, not that one, you sickos.

I'm talking about the curse known as men who think it's okay to treat women like crap and screw them over CONTINUOSLY.

Seriously, I have not met one decent guy since I arrived at this school. Dating in college is such a joke--I don't know why anyone even tries. Worst case since I've been here: I watched the guy I was seeing kiss FIVE other girls in a bar. FIVE. IN FRONT OF ME. Seriously???

In addition, may I just point out that the girls that these guys are dating are not of a higher scholastic aptitude or prettier or whatever. No, the girl they are going to choose over you is going to be that dumb girl with bad highlights who sits in the back of your math class and still cannot do single-variable algebra. Or, even better, the girl who gets an exta ten dollar charge on her bar tab because she was an annoying pain in the ass.

I know this is a really standard rant for girls, but seriously, when I can't find a decent guy in a place where the male population consists of approximately TEN THOUSAND MEN, ALL of whom are of an appropriate age for me to date, it does not bode well for the rest of the world.

To quote my favorite short story author, Flannery O'Connor, "a good man is hard to find." And a special thank you to Tina Fey for pointing this out this issue on national television.

You have to get naked before you can get dressed.

So you may have noticed that the blog is white and stripped down.

Well, here's the thing--my videos are sometimes too wide to show on here, and so I tried to fix the layout, and it didn't work, and I just messed it all up. So I chose the simplest layout on here. It will stay until I find something fabulous that is also conducive to watching videos right here on the blog.

As much as it may surprise some of you to hear this, I am inspired by many people and things other than Lady Gaga. (She just happens to be my favorite.)

On the edge.

The world is on the brink of a fashion revolution.

Haven't you noticed?

Look at the current trends--strong shoulders, sequins, super-high platform cage-style heels, architechtural dresses, extreme accessories, lingerie as clothing. It's like the whole world just wants a huge party. And yet, most of the looks are much more cohesive than those of say, the 80s.

I don't know what's about to happen...
but I like it.

My beloved Lady Gaga has done it again.

And this time with another favorite of mine, Beyonce.

Ladies and gentleman, the "Telephone" music video.
(Warning: This video contains profanity, some mild nudity, and mature themes. If you are offended by any of these things, please do not watch this, because you will only end up upset.)



It's what everyone's been talking about lately--and if you haven't heard, it is awe-inspiring. I was absolutely blown away by the costumes, colors, plot, and dancing. I literally have never seen something so inspired in my life. There is no doubt in my mind that this video will go down in history as one of the greatest music videos of all time, and I predict that it will also bring forth a renaissance of the film-type music video, similar to what Michael Jackson did with "Thriller" and "Smooth Criminal."

So watch and enjoy. Again and again and again.

Proof that the year we currently live in is 1950, not 2010.

I despised about 98% of the decisions made by my alma mater, but at least I understood most of them. And the ones I didn't agree with (and had no real reasoning behind them) I generally made a big enough fuss about to get my way.

As much as I disliked the administration of my high school, I can applaud the fact that they never did anything like this.

An 18-year-old student in Mississippi was not only denied the chance to go to her senior prom, but her school district decided to cancel the prom and ruin senior year for everyone, just because of their prejudices against this one girl.

This is the sort of thing that absolutely disgusts me. Why does this continue to happen? Why do people let it happen? Raise your voices, get loud, stand up for what you believe in.
